Tess McCarthy

I'm Tess McCarthy, a self-made polymath who put herself through college to earn a degree in Behavioral Science, then through graduate school for a master's degree in Library and Information Science. My path took me from archivist and librarian to information scientist—and eventually into the emerging problems of how humans and AI understand, organize, preserve, and create meaning.

I've always created meaning through art and writing as a multimedia artist, poet, writer, illustrator, and podcaster. I help others find meaning through Jungian coaching, astrology, and tarot. I also help computer systems find meaning by creating language and semantic solutions that mediate human intent with machine inference.

In a nutshell, my work spans human-AI interaction, semantic systems, visual art, publishing, poetry, and symbolic practice.

I create across these disciplines through V.velox Ltd., LLC, the umbrella company that brings together V.velox Intelligence, my AI consulting practice; Visual Liquid Media, which includes Visual Liquid Magazine, Studio 227, MorningPoems, and THEM CATS; and Red Thread Intuitive, my Jungian coaching and symbolic-practice work.

Visual Liquid is a feminist-forward publication that celebrates rebels, renaissance women and femmes, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, aging, and other underrepresented creative voices.

Across my technical, artistic, and coaching work, I return to the same underlying questions: how do we understand what something is, preserve what matters, recognize patterns, and make relationships visible?
