About
Prof. Shelby Kutty’s career in the United States includes distinguished roles as a physician-scientist, academic cardiologist, educator, innovator, and healthcare executive.
Dr. Kutty trained at leading hospitals and universities in Australia, Canada, and the United States, including the University of Toronto, Cleveland Clinic, and Harvard University. He has built an international reputation as a clinician, educator, and innovator in academic cardiology. He has co-authored more than 500 peer-reviewed journal publications, holds three patents, and has received distinguished honors from organizations including the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
With expertise in cardiovascular imaging, predictive modeling, and technology-enabled clinical innovation, Dr. Kutty is dedicated to translating scientific discovery, data, and emerging technologies into better patient outcomes. He holds a master’s degree in healthcare management from Harvard University and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam. He has also completed training in artificial intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan and was designated an Aresty Scholar at the Wharton School. He has contributed to international healthcare initiatives, including ventures in India, China and Brazil, applying his expertise to advance innovation and improve healthcare.
Dr. Kutty has held senior academic and executive leadership positions, including Executive Director, System Chair, System Vice President, and Chief Academic Officer, at the University of Nebraska, Johns Hopkins University, and BayCare Health System. Through his publications, international presentations, and professional engagement, his work reaches a broad global audience. He has mentored dozens of trainees, including eleven PhD graduates, and delivered more than 250 invited lectures worldwide. He also serves on numerous medical and professional committees in the United States.
