I run the North Carolina Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Center, where we've redefined STEM as "Strategies That Engage Minds®", a framework now embedded across the state's K-12 systems. I launched the NC STEM Learning Network and broker partnerships between industry and education to build real-world career pathways for students.

I worked with Governor James B. Hunt Jr. to establish North Carolina's education standards and reform assessment systems. I'm a founding board member of The Hunt Institute and serve on the Smithsonian Education board.
