Owen Zidar

I am Owen Zidar, a professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton University and a research associate at the NBER. I study taxes, business income, and inequality.

With Matthew Smith, Danny Yagan, and Eric Zwick I use tax return data to show who really owns private business income, and how pass-through profits reshaped top incomes and the labor share. I also study state corporate tax cuts, business incentives, and how state taxes move firms and workers across places.

Before Princeton I earned my PhD at Berkeley, served as a staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisers, and taught at Chicago Booth.
