Founder, Zero Debt College Project
About
Dr. Monique Thompson, DHA, LPC, LPC-S, is an author, educator, licensed professional counselor supervisor, and founder of the Zero Debt College Project. This community-rooted initiative equips students and families with practical strategies for pursuing higher education without surrendering their financial futures to unnecessary student loan debt.
Drawing on more than 25 years of experience in counseling, education, and community leadership, Dr. Thompson teaches that scholarship success is not simply about luck or perfect grades. It is built through identity, preparation, documented impact, strong relationships, consistent action, and emotional resilience. Through the Zero Debt College Project, she has helped her daughter and hundreds of other students strengthen their scholarship profiles, locate funding opportunities, and approach college decisions with greater confidence. Her daughter, Tamia Thompson, graduated from Howard University with zero debt and was offered a record-breaking 10.5 million in merit based scholarships as a high school graduate from Little Elm High School in 2020. Students in her program are routinely able to graduate from college with zero debt by following strategies developed by Dr. Thompson.
Dr. Thompson is also the author of *No More Sharecropping Education*, the *Self-Coaching Scholarship Strategy Workbook for College Students*, and the bestselling *Infidelity Recovery Workbook for Couples*, which has sold more than 10,000 copies. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to helping individuals and families build healthier relationships, stronger communities, and futures defined by choices rather than debt.
