Mark Esposito, PhD​

I'm Mark, professor of strategy and technology policy at Northeastern University and the chief economist at micro1, a Silicon valley AI lab. I serve as faculty associate at Harvard Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, at Harvard's Center for International Development and at Harvard Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences. I also hold an adjunct professorships in policy at Georgetown University and the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government.

I co‑founded Nexus FrontierTech, The Chart ThinkTank, and the AI Native Foundation. I often say that models are a bit stupid (some are more useful than others) so I focus on testing hypotheses in the real world and learning from the gap between inputs and outcomes. My research tracks the triple transition of AI governance, energy systems, and geopolitics, aiming to design adaptive governance that keeps pace with fast‑moving technology.
