I serve as a Lecturer on the faculty of the Yale School of Engineering and Applied Science and an Entrepreneurship Fellow at the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale (CITY), which is Yale University's hub for student-facing innovation education. I previously served as the Dean of Pierson College, which is one of 14 undergraduate residential learning communities at Yale University. In that role, I fostered the academic and personal wellbeing of 700 students (2020 - 2022).
Before higher education, I worked as a venture capital investor at Silas Capital, which gave me the opportunity to partner with entrepreneurs creating early-stage consumer brands. Through my personal investments, I'm also an investor in several technology startups and a limited partner in a venture capital fund-of-funds (more info at: jorgetorres.com).
My teaching and coaching focus on new venture creation, entrepreneurship, and venture capital. I work with university students and seasoned investors alike, and the material I teach runs the gamut from investing fundamentals to advanced concepts.
I also teach an online venture capital 101 course for people who want to learn the language of investing in innovation. To learn more and sign up for the next cohort, please visit getventurefluent.com.
