J. Anthony Allen

I'm J. Anthony Allen, a composer, producer, educator, and innovator based in Minneapolis. I have composed orchestral works and produced dance music, and through my entrepreneurship projects, I've taught over a million students worldwide music theory and electronic music production.

My work has been performed around the world, including Europe, North America, and Asia, appearing with the Minnesota Orchestra and on Netflix soundtracks. In 2011, I founded Slam Academy to make electronic music education more accessible. I also received tenure and resigned from a university role on the same day in 2024. I hold a Ph.D. in Music Composition along with multiple master's degrees, and I've been recognized as a "Mover and Shaker" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. If you meet me, I prefer to be called J (as in, Jay).
