I'm the Eugene Holman Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, where I've spent three decades studying start-ups, high growth and newly public companies, and how venture capital and private equity work in this ecosystem.

Long before finance, I ran a 2:15 marathon as a Harvard freshman and placed fourth at the 1988 US Olympic Marathon Trials, then later carried that same obsession with pacing and preparation into four Kona Ironman races.
