Dr. Jason Hawrelak

I'm Jason, a probiotic & microbiome researcher, educator, and naturopathic clinician. I am Lead Educator at the Microbiome Restoration Center, Chief Research Officer at the Probiotic Advisor, and work as a naturopath and nutritionist at Goulds Natural Medicine. I hold an Honours degree and a PhD in the area of intestinal dysbiosis, microbiome optimisation, irritable bowel syndrome, and the clinical applications of prebiotics and probiotics. I have written extensively in textbooks and journals including 20 textbook chapters over the past 25 years.

I've lectured at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level for over 20 years, including as Course Coordinator for the post-graduate evidence-based complementary medicine programs within the School of Medicine at the University of Tasmania (Hobart, Tasmania) for 10 years (2014-2024). I was also the unit coordinator and lecturer for the Gastrointestinal Imbalances unit in the Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine program at the University of Western States (Portland, Oregon) for 12 years (2013-2025). I now focus on creating and teaching my own courses within the Microbiome Restoration Center.
