General David H. Petraeus

I'm David Petraeus, Partner at the global investment firm KKR and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute and KKR Middle East. I also serve on the boards of Optiv and OneStream, advise several companies strategically, and co-authored a bestselling book on modern warfare. Before joining KKR, I served over 37 years in the U.S. military, with multiple combat commands, then led the CIA after Senate confirmation.

I graduated with distinction from West Point, topped my classes at Ranger School and Command and General Staff College, and earned a Ph.D. from Princeton. I've held academic roles at six universities and participate in various international and strategic councils. I've received numerous U.S. and foreign awards and been recognized in leadership and public intellectual rankings.
