Philip the Evangelist, one of the seven deacons chosen by the apostles in Jerusalem, is known for his role in spreading the teachings of Christ. He is often remembered for his famous encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch, as described in the Book of Acts (Acts 8:26-40).
Following God's command, Philip was told by an angel to go to the desert road toward Gaza. There, he approached the eunuch—a high official for the queen of Ethiopia—who was reading the Book of Isaiah but did not understand it. Philip explained the scriptures to him, proclaiming the Good News of Jesus. This led to the eunuch's request for baptism and his conversion to Christianity. This story highlights Philip's obedience to the Holy Spirit and his role as a messenger of God's word.
