Cardinal Sigitas Tamkevičius, S.J., survivor of Soviet imprisonment for publishing the underground 'Chronicle of the Catholic Church in Lithuania.' Ordained in 1962, he courageously documented religious persecution under Soviet rule. After five years in labor camps and exile (1983-1988), he served as Archbishop of Kaunas (1996-2015) and was elevated to Cardinal by Pope Francis in 2019.
