Candace Reese
About
Dr. Candace Reese is a Juneteenth scholar, writer and lecturer who works with corporations and colleges on the holiday's significance beyond the day itself.
She founded the Juneteenth Pilgrimage, where descendants of a man enslaved by the founders of Galveston walk from the Menard House to Ashton Villa, where General Order No. 3 is believed to have been read in 1865. Ask her about Juneteenth, African American history, or DEI.
