About

I'm Betsey. I'm a at the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy, where I study how paychecks, policy, and home life shape one another. I've also worked from inside government, as Chief Economist at the and a member of President Obama's Council of Economic Advisers.

For nearly twenty years, my research with Justin Wolfers has argued that money buys more happiness than economists assumed, and asked why than they used to.

Lately I'm working through what AI does to a job, and to the time left over once it's done. Ask away.
