The Art of Living Free Schools, inspired by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, provide holistic education to underserved children across India. With 1,327 schools and 85,959 students (nearly half girls), these schools focus on empowerment through education.
Education is the key to breaking cycles of poverty and ensuring gender equality. As Gurudev says, “Education is not about stuffing minds with information but creating an atmosphere for holistic growth.” The initiative operates in rural, slum, and tribal areas, reaching places with little or no infrastructure.
Impact stories show transformation: in Bihar, Nilkamal & Rina Kumari, the first educated women in their families, secured roles in the Bihar Police. In Chhattisgarh, a student from a Naxal-affected village is now in medical school.
Studies prove that educated girls lead to healthier families, reduced child marriage, and economic growth. Despite challenges, volunteers inspired by Gurudev’s vision reach remote areas to provide quality education, integrating yoga, meditation, and value-based learning to foster confidence, peace, and resilience.
