I'm Andrew Piper, a professor in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University in Montreal, where I direct , a lab for and . We use machine learning, narrative theory, and citizen science to study how stories generate meaning across cultures. I also direct McGill's Master's Program in Digital Humanities and the Citizen Readers project. My books include Enumerations, Can We Be Wrong?, and Why You Should Read More Fiction (Johns Hopkins, 2026). My work asks what data and AI can teach us about storytelling, and how fiction teaches us .
